The Black Swamp was a network of marshes that spread across the Northwest Ohio Area. It consisted of dense woods and thick, muddy mires, making it dark and treacherous. It was a very difficult place for humans to settle in. However it made a wonderful habitat for the rich assortment of local wildlife.
Today, the region consists of prosperous farm land and sprawling flat plains.
The Black Swamp region stretches between modern day cities of Toledo, Sandusky, Findlay, Lima, Fort Wayne, and Brian.
